I got published in I-Magazine! Hurrah!

I-Magazine is a publication of the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism (PCIJ). And PCIJ is one of the most respected institutions in the field of journalism. So I am really really happy to see my work there.

I have been published quite a number of times. I have written editorials, features, and even headline news once when I was working in school papers. But I am still excited each and every time I get printed. I admit that a byline is a boost to the ego. But more than that, it is being read that makes writing worthwhile. There is nothing like having the power to reach out to other people. You get to convey an important message to them. I would be happy even if just one person reads my work and he/she gets something from it.

I know that I still have a lot to prove when it comes to being a writer. In fact, I do not see myself as a writer - professional writer type. I just like writing. And I learn a lot from it. I just want to hone my skill to the best I can. Getting published in PCIJ is a step nearer my goal.

By the way, I would like to say thanks to Ms. Luz Rimban. She was my teacher in Broadcast Journalism and she was the one who referred me. Thanks for the wonderful opportunity! And thanks for the trust. (Guess I was the first student who crossed your mind when they needed a piece from a first-time voter. A PolSci and Comm background is sure useful. I.S. rules!)
